Identity is the story you tell yourself about who you are… and then forget you’re the one who wrote it. In this month's Satsang, we explore Identity from the Yogic Perspective (Ahamkara + Asmita), Neuroscience and life patterns in general. I feel with my whole being that this is one of the most impactful explorations you'll ever take!

Time stamps:
0:00-3:30 - Intro and gratitude
3:30-44:20 - Teaching on identity
44:20-01:21:00 - Soul Circle
Ways to relate differently to identity:
“What if instead of asking ‘Who am I?’ you asked, ‘Who am I becoming?’”
• Self-inquiry & Reflection: "Is this identity serving or stifling me?"
• Sankalpa: Yogic intention (intentional affirmation) setting grounded in present truth + future potential
• Habit Change through Identity Shifts (James Clear): Anchor new habits in new identity beliefs (Ex: “I’m a person who moves my body daily” vs “I should exercise”)
• Meditation & Witnessing: Create space between identity and awareness
• Play & Curiosity: Let life be your lab. Try on new behaviors, attitudes, styles!
Journal Prompts:
1. What labels do I use most often to describe myself? Where did I learn them?
2. When have I outgrown an identity, but kept performing it anyway?
3. What role do my habits and routines play in reinforcing who I think I am?
4. What parts of me feel more like a performance than a truth?
5. If I had to describe my “true self” without roles or achievements, what words come up?
6. What are the pros and cons of how I currently identify?
7. Where do I feel trapped by an identity I’ve outgrown?
8. What would I try if I didn’t feel beholden to who I “should” be?
9. Who do I think I have to be in order to be loved or accepted?
10. What identities were modeled for me growing up? How have I kept or rebelled against them?
11. What do I judge or fear about changing?
12. How might self-compassion soften the parts of me I’m ready to evolve?
13. What patterns or personas am I ready to shed?
14. If I had full permission to start fresh, what would I let go of?
15. How have the changes in my life already been preparing me for this new chapter?
16. Who am I becoming right now?
17. What’s one identity shift I’m ready to claim?
18. What new behaviors would that identity include?
19. What old narrative do I need to retire to make space for that?
20. What practices or support systems would help me embody this identity?
